Women’s Retreat – Reflections

By | Retreats

womensretreatIt was great. Most relaxing women’s retreat I have ever been on and I have been to lots. This one was my favourite by far.

What a great time we had last weekend at the Ladies’ Retreat!! My prayer was that it would be a celebration of God’s faithfulness – that we would be encouraged and He would be glorified. My prayer was answered! Josie Barkway and Janet Soppit blessed us all through the times of worship and teaching. The many testimonies that were shared were incredibly encouraging. 70 ladies came together – we laughed, we ate, we coloured, we crafted, we experienced refreshment and renewal. My thanks to everyone who helped bring all of the pieces together. Here is what some of our retreat attendee’s would like to share:

I was one of the ladies to share my story. Before this, I did not share my story with anyone. God moved me to do this. He tried before but I didn’t listen.

It was a wonderful time of spiritual refreshment and refocusing, as well as a great time of rest and (re)connection with many lovely ladies. Camp Kahquah is an amazing place where God’s presence and peace is palpable. Thank you for providing the opportunity for all of us to come, learn, grow and enjoy all that God had for us!

This was my first trip to Camp Kahquah. Having come in a small group of two, not knowing anyone other than my companion and not being sure of what to expect, I was delighted to find that the women’s retreat had been saturated in prayer. It was that evident. I came wanting to hear from God…..and that is what happened. From the very first night, I found that Janet spoke to me. Her words were finding nuggets of truth in me that God would later open up and reveal. It was not until our return to camp from the nature walk on Saturday that I would ask God specifically what He was saying….and what I should do with it. As I distanced myself from the group….He became clear and I decided then and there (confirmed through prayer) that I would not follow through with two decisions that I had made earlier that week. Plans that were good plans….but were not God plans. As I continue to work out my faith through prayer and trembling…..I intend to clearly hear from God before I decide which next, new road to take.

There is always a peace of mind and soul that I experience at camp whether on a weekend or a week. This weekend was no different. I am always reminded that God is near and wants good things for us. One example of this was the most beautiful sunset. It was as if God was reminding me “I am here and I am with you always”. In His faithfulness, He provides no matter where we find ourselves.

What an incredible testimony of what God is doing in the lives of so many women. God is faithful!
